Meet Sidney

Sidney is a Mental Health Counseling Intern who is working on her Master’s Degree for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at East Carolina University. Her fervent love for the mental health field began as a child, when she was introduced to family members managing mental health struggles. Since then, she has worked with adolescents living with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and trauma. Also, she has supported adult populations living with OCD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

She utilizes a holistic, person-centered approach as the foundation for each session. She believes that providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment to accept the whole person for who they are is paramount for effective work to take place. Sidney maintains that each individual already holds the keys to unlocking their highest potential and the life of their dreams. Leaning on an integrative approach, Sidney pulls from multiple evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy. In addition, she closely follows Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, as well as Jungian Analysis–emphasizing the power of the shadow.

Sidney is devoted to working with individuals who desire to explore their identity, manage emotional regulation, and balance life transitions. Welcoming both adolescents and adults alike, she supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, neurodiversity (i.e., ADHD), trauma, relationship issues, boundary-setting difficulties, and personal exploration. She holds a specific interest in shadow work, involving the analysis of the darker, unwanted versions of ourselves that deserve love and compassion. Through integrating the shadow, the individual learns to embrace all parts of themselves with warmth and gentleness–a process known as individuation.

Placing value in human resilience, Sidney holds firm that growth is found in discovering both our own personal strengths and limitations. A personal philosophy of hers is that all parts of ourselves deserve space and understanding to truly acknowledge the self. In her free time, she traverses nature trails, reads literature of all sorts, and uses creative writing as a tool to better facilitate personal development. She looks forward to meeting clients from all walks of life, allowing their narratives to be heard and treasured.
